Joseph Mascali, T.S.U. 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Aside from his work with Rescue 5 in Concord, just about every aspect of firefighter Joseph A. Mascali’s life revolved around his family. “He enjoyed playing golf with his son, Chris, and was treasurer of the Poly Prep football team, where Christopher attended high school,” said his wife, the former Lori Dispenza. “His greatest enjoyment in life was his family,” she continued. “He loved many years of father-daughter dances at Notre Dame Academy with his daughter Jennifer, and camping with his daughter, Katie (Katelyn), whom he always called his buddy.” He looked forward particularly to family vacations at Lake George, N.Y., and Disney World in Florida. Mr. Mascali, 44, of New Dorp, a native of Brooklyn, is among the missing in the World Trade Center devastation. He was co-owner of Tower East Construction, Great Kills. His partner in the company was Carl Bini, also a missing member of Rescue 5. “People always said he was so caring about his work and so honest,” Mrs. Mascali said. Mr. Mascali, who moved from Brooklyn to Richmond 22 years ago and to New Dorp 10 years ago, was a graduate of Xaverian High School, Brooklyn, and attended St. John’s University. “My husband was and always will be the love of my life,” Mrs. Mascali said. “He taught his children to love and respect others and to always follow their hearts.” Surviving, in addition to his wife and children, are his parents, Arnold and Cathy Mascali; two brothers, John and Arnold, and two sisters, Cathy Mascali and Donna Russo.
