Christopher, Blackwell, Res. 3 Christopher J. Blackwell, 42, of Putnam Lake, NY, has been missing in the line of duty since September 11, 2001 after responding with his brother firefighters from FDNY Rescue 3 to the World Trade Center attacks. Mr. Blackwell was the husband of Jane Scott Blackwell, and beloved father of Alex (Alexandra) 15, Ryan, 13, and Samantha, 11. A highly decorated 20 year veteran of the Fire Department of New York. Mr. Blackwell received the Heroism and Community Service Medal in 1989, the Thomas Kennedy Medal in 1990, and the Medal of Valor in 1992. He was a member of the FEMA urban search and rescue team and taught heavy rescue skills to fire departments throughout the region and the country. Mr. Blackwell grew up in New Fairfield, CT and graduated from Immaculate High School. He was a veteran, having served with the US Air Force, and a 25 year member of New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company A. He worked as a regional paramedic for Danbury Ambulance, for Vinteck and for Sloper Whalen of NY during his career. Mr. Blackwell was the son of L. Donald Blackwell of New Fairfield and Frances Allan of Danbury, and the son-in-law of John and Marilyn Scott of New Fairfield. He has two brothers, Michael of Hawaii, Steven of New York; a sister, Diane Mishico of New Fairfield, two brothers-in-law, John and Jim Scott and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Mr. Blackwell will be held on October 20, 2 pm, at St. James Episcopal Church, 25 West Street in Danbury. The family will have a memorial visitation to receive friends before the Memorial Service at the Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury, from 10 am to 1 pm. After the Memorial Service friends and family are invited to gather at the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company A Community Room, 302 Ball Pond Road, New Fairfield.
