Michael Lyons, Sqd.41 Michael J. Lyons, FDNY, 33, of Hawthorne, NY and formerly of Yonkers, NY, missing and presumed dead, while heroically trying to save others on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Michael was born on July 20, 1969 to the late Thomas and Mary (nee Taggart) Lyons in Yonkers, NY. Michael attended Yonkers Elementary School then Mount St. Michael Academy, Bronx, NY, graduating in 1987. Michael then attended Manhattan College, Bronx, NY, graduating in 1994. Michael was a 7 year veteran of FDNY, first stationed at Engine 44 on the Upper East Side, and was currently stationed at Squad 41 in Harlem. He was also a Volunteer Firefighter with the Hawthorne Fire Company #1. He is survived by his wife Elaine (nee Cody) Lyons of Hawthorne, NY, one daughter, Caitlyn Lyons, 14 months; three brothers, Kieran Lyons of Darien, CT, Brian Lyons of Lake Carmel, NY, Sean Lyons of Falmouth, MA; son-in-law of Norma and James Cody, of Hawthorne, NY. Also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
